Human Talent Magazine is the evolution of Were A Big Deal—a publication founded in 2012 to shine a spotlight on the people shaping culture and inspiring others through their stories.

Born in Vancouver, we’ve featured a diverse range of creatives, from Icona Pop and Imagine Dragons to Mother Mother and Metta World Peace. After a hiatus and relaunch in 2020, we’ve expanded our vision. Now based in Los Angeles, Human Talent Magazine celebrates global creatives—artists, innovators, and dreamers—who are redefining what it means to make an impact.

JILL | Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Human Talent Magazine is the vision of Jill Conte, Editor-in-Chief and founder of Were A Big Deal (2012). Inspired by conversations with driven, innovative people across industries, Jill built a platform to celebrate persistence, passion, and the power of personal stories. What began as a tribute to those forging their own paths has evolved into a global stage for creatives, dreamers, and changemakers.

Born in Vancouver and now based in Los Angeles, Jill brings two decades of experience in business, film, television, media, and wellness to Human Talent. As a leader, storyteller, and curator, she champions the idea that talent is universal—and the world deserves to see it.

DANI | Producer & Content Manager

Dani is a multifaceted creative with a passion for storytelling in all its forms. Born and raised in Vancouver, where she still resides, Dani has been a film industry veteran since the age of 18. She has contributed to iconic projects like Smallville and The Twilight Saga, and her career has spanned casting, animation, and VR—fueled by her love for pop culture.

Beyond the screen, Dani is a dog lover, theatre enthusiast, and even a food truck owner. In recent years, she joined her husband in running their family business. Having produced for We’re a Big Deal in its early days, Dani is thrilled to reunite with the team to spotlight like-minded businesses and companies making a positive impact.
