Who are we?

WBD is We’re a Big Deal – a Vancouver based online publication with the aim of shining a spotlight on the people who make up Canadian culture and inspiring others by sharing their story.

Since 2012, WBD has featured a broad palette of entertainers including Icona Pop, Dirty Radio, Mother Mother, Imagine Dragons and Metta World Peace. After a hiatus, we’ve relaunched in 2020, focusing on our hometown Vancouver, B.C. and on the people doing what they love, determined to achieving their dreams.

The Team

JILL | Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Jill was inspired to start We’re a Big Deal after the many conversations with driven and innovative people she had the pleasure of meeting. It flourished into an appreciation for the people’s journey and their persistence, in any industry and felt that people’s stories needed to be shared to inspire others. Jill is Editor-in-Chief and one of the faces of WBD.

Born in Vancouver, Jill has spent the last 20 years working in Business, Film & Television, Media to Wellness and Beauty. A family woman, Jill enjoys travel adventures, photography, all things beauty and developing her green thumb!

DANI | Producer & Content Manager

Dani is a dog loving, theatre enthusiast and food truck owner. Yes, that’s right. But that’s not all she can do! Dani has worked in Film since she was 18, working on projects such as Smallville, The Twilight Saga and many more. Her passion for pop culture has driven her career in many different avenues, from casting, animation and VR. In the last few years she decided to join the family business with her husband.

Having produced for WBD in the beginning, Dani is excited to join forces again. She’s excited to highlight local like-minded companies and businesses that do good and take charge!

KRISTA | Creative Producer

Krista is an actor/filmmaker and a 2nd-generation Vancouverite. An alumna of Capilano University’s Film/TV Acting, Cinematography and Motion Picture Production programs, her short films have screened across North America. Krista has also appeared in numerous commercials and Film/TV shows, including “Star Trek: Short Treks” (CBS/Crave), “Christmas Jars” (CityTV), and “Nurses” (Global TV). She is currently based in Toronto.

Originally part of the development team, Krista has returned as Creative Producer and one of the faces of WBD.
