What sparked your interest in acting?
I love storytelling! I grew up in a very religious household, so I think listening to Bible stories daily set the foundation for my life’s work lol. But, if I go through my mental Rolodex, I remember going to see the “Phantom of the Opera” when I was 5 or 6, and being fully in awe of what I now understand is a production. To see so many different people, with that much talent, telling a story? It was quite moving. The same thing would happen when I would watch television or movies. I couldn’t let the way it impacted me go. I was so heavily influenced by this magic of ‘story’, that when I then found out what an actor was, I knew it was what I wanted, even if I didn’t know how to get it. It took a little while to find the path and fully take the plunge after having a different career path, but this has been well worth the wait. I love acting and getting to be a part of storytelling in this way.

What do you love about your job?
There are so many different facets about being an actor that I love, but the thing that renews my passion every day is that it’s a never-ending opportunity to learn. It’s limitless in its potential. I love creating characters and working on finding what differentiates them from me. Sometimes, I’ll manage to hit those differences with some level of precision, and other times, not at all. But, it’s always part of this beautiful learning process. I’m so thankful for my teachers who have supported me in that learning over the years. It takes time!

I also adore the arts community. I have met the most incredible people, the most creative people, the most supportive people since I became an actor. I’m always learning from friends, from teachers, from our crews, and it never ceases. It’s an incredible job- that takes a lot of work- and requires a ton of tenacity and resiliency. I like that it keeps me on my toes!

During these interesting times, what keeps you inspired?
Skating! Every day, rain or shine, I go to the rink and take this time for myself. It’s become a bit of a ritual that I find to be both meditative and fun. Watching the kids on the ice has also kept me inspired. The way they fall and get back up while managing to have fun is something I think about regularly.

Dancing! I am a huge Bad Bunny fan and without fail, I start my days with his music to get me going. I’ve also found a lot of inspiration in cooking. It’s shown me how much I enjoy creating, and I’ve become a better manager of my finances due to this shift in lifestyle. Also, walks. So. many. walks.

Last but not least, I get to watch excellent TV! We’re in the golden age of television and, I’m relishing in every moment of it. I watch soooo much TV. Watching great work inspires me more than anything. It’s even better when you get to see your friends in it!
