What do you love about being a professional dancer?
I am so grateful that I am able to do what I love as a profession. Making the move to LA was something I have always wanted to do from a young age, so I am proud that I get to pursue my dreams out here! I think something that I love about what I do is that it really never feels like work. It doesn’t even have to be while I’m working on a job or anything.. just taking class and training is enough to get me out of my head and helps me to be present and happy. I am grateful that I have this outlet and it’s just a big bonus when you get the ability to dance or create for work.

During these interesting times, what keeps you inspired?
I actually became super inspired by up-cycling and reworking clothing during quarantine! It started as something to do in the beginning.. and then it turned into a bit of a side hustle that has been very well received! I went to school for fashion back in Vancouver, Canada in 2016/17 and always have had a love for styling, creating, and just fashion in general. Even though these times have been scary and unpredictable, it has been nice to have this extra time to explore something new and creative. Something that has been fun for me is when people will message me with an idea and ask me to make it for them, and I just kept saying yes, even if I hadn’t done it before. It’s been a super “learn as you go” process, but it has kept me busy, inspired, and fulfilled. My instagram is @justj.style if you want to check out what I have created so far!

What’s coming up for you?
I am about to work as assistant choreographer for Royal Caribbean’s newest build, Odyssey of the Seas. I will be flying to Cyprus to quarantine then begin working on two shows for the ship in April! I have worked for RCCL as the Assistant Choreographer to Zachary Venegas for three years now. We have had the pleasure of creating and setting brand new shows for the biggest casts and ships Royal Caribbean has to offer! This ship will be safely traveling out of Israel and Greece. I am looking forward to working on this project as it has obviously been touch and go due to COVID-19.

Tell us one fun fact about you.
I thoroughly enjoy putting things together or building things… For example, putting together IKEA furniture is a super fun day for me, or completing a 1000+ piece puzzle in one sitting. I find these things quite enjoyable.
