What sparked your interest in film?
I was cast as “The Mirror” in my grade school’s production of Snow White. It was an understated role, but I remember taking it incredibly seriously and having the most fun I had ever had in school throughout the rehearsals & performance. When I learned that some people got to do that as a job when they grew up, I was all in. My adolescent pursuits in Acting eventually led to a desire to play a bigger role in Production, I started Producing with a mandate to see my collective projects through, no matter the challenges and scope.

What do you love about your job?
The people! Film people are the best. We’re a wacky, creative flock that can make anything happen with film magic. I love the process, I love the magical moments that come when “Action” is called and being there to witness it or in the scene to experience it. I love when you finally get to share the film, and it resonates with an audience or even an individual, and the conversations and bond that come from it. It all largely outweighs the many stresses, there is so much to love.

During these interesting times, what keeps you inspired?
Watching TV/Movies, Reading, Listening to audio books/podcasts always inspires me, and I’ve had more time then usual to soak these things in. I’m inspired by how so many of my valued organizations and resources have been able to pivot online, making panels, classes, film festivals and coffee meetings even more accessible than ever before. I’m deeply inspired by the many Producers & Professionals in our community who banded together and developed Covid-19 protocols that worked, so we could continue to work safely in many capacities. So much emotional awakening with recent events which spotlighted the deep issues on systemic racisms and discrimination in our industry (and the world) in the past few years, I am truly inspired for the future of film with organizations such Bipoc TV& Film, Producers Pledge, and #MeToo Movements which are already greatly influencing how we work and what we will see on our screens moving forward.

I’m also in development for a lifestyle show with Bell TV1 which coincides with my love for flowers & gardening, I can’t wait to share more on this. Oh! And my first episode of Sinking Ship’s ENDLINGS was just released on CBC Gem, I get to play Mom to the sweetest little boy you’ll ever see on TV.

Tell us one fun fact about you.
Good or hilarious food art will stop me in my tracks. I am obsessed with bringing themed snack plates to my family potlucks (tie died devilled eggs to Easter lunch, google-y eyes on my guac dips, penguins made out of olives and cream cheese – I steal all these ideas from Pinterest). Next I want to try florally garden foccacia, gotta get on that bread baking train!
